挽弓當挽彊，
用箭當用長。
射人先射馬，
擒賊先擒王。
殺人亦有限，
列國自有疆。
苟能制侵陵，
豈在多殺傷。

Let your bow be the strongest,
Your arrow the longest.
To bring down a rider, shoot his horses;
To vanquish the enemy, capture the leader.
Slaughter should not go beyond the limit, 
Nor the war carried, beyond the bounds of the country.
So long as aggression is halted,
What need is there for more bloodshed?
